Cobolt Speechmaster Talking Big Button Mobile Phone Instructions WHAT’S IN THE BOX Cobolt Mobile Battery Charging Stand Mains Charging Plug USB C Cable INSERTING THE BATTERY AND SIM CARD: Turn the phone over so the screen is facing down, using your right hand you will feel a grove on the bottom left side edge, use you thumb nail and lift up, this will remove the back half of the case. Once removed locate the SOS button, it is on the raised mould to the top left of the phone, under the camera lens the right side of the mould is the speaker. To locate the SIM card holder run your thumb directly down from the SOS button into the battery tray. The 2 SIM slots are located in the center of the tray. SIM 1 is to the right and SIM 2 to the left. To insert SIM insure the contacts are facing down and the cut corner is at the bottom right. Keep the phone steady and place the SIM just below the holder. Place you thumb in the center of the SIM and gently slide the SIM UP into the holder. A slight angle on the bottom of the SIM may be required to go under the metal band. To the bottom right of the battery tray is the SD card holder. To insert the SD card use a thumb and click the card door down lift the door up insert SD card then put door down and click the door up to secure. Find the Battery and remove it from its plastic bag. Locate the 3 battery terminals by running you nail along the top and bottom of the battery. Once side will remain smooth, the other with have the terminals. The terminals need to be pointing to the bottom right. The Battery terminals in the phone are located at the bottom right of the . Use this as a guide and insert the battery. Replace the back casing, with a firm press. CHARGING THE BATTERY: The battery indicator is located on the right hand side of the screen. There will be Five bars displayed in this position when the battery is fully charged. These will decrease as the battery life goes down. A warning signal will be given when the battery is low and the unit will need charging. Plug the charger into the mains outlet and The USB (larger end) of the cable into the plug, Located at the bottom of the back of the plug, The charging stand has a raised Cobolt sticker on the front, Plug the USB C side of the cable the into the charging stand, it is level with the Cobolt sticker but at the back of the unit. Turn the mains plug on, There are 2 pins located left and right in the stand, to guide the phone into the holder locate the Cobolt raised sticker above the keypad of the phone, place your thumb horizontal across sticker and hold the phone do the same with your free TURN THE PHONE ON/OFF: Hold down the ON/OFF button. (second row far right, red button) The unit will vibrate. KEYPAD DESCRIPTION: There are six rows in total; First Row Confirm/ ok Button, Up Arrow , go back in menu button. Second Row Make /answer call button / access call logs - use to answer or make calls. Or to access the sub menu for your call logs i.e. Dialled calls, Received calls, Missed calls, Call timers, Clear logs. Up/Down/Menu button - use the up button to access messages Use the down button to access shortcut list. While in any menu use the top section of this button to scroll up and the bottom section of the button to scroll down. On / Off / Cancel / Back button - Use to disconnect a call or hang up, or to go back to the home page. Third row Number buttons - 1 2 / A / B / C 3 / D / E / F Fourth row - Number buttons - 4 / G / H / I 5 / J / K / L 6 / M / N / O fifth row - Number buttons - 7 / P / Q / R / S 8 / T / U/ V 9 / W / X / Y / Z Sixth row - * (star button) 0 (hold for 5 seconds to change profile) # (hash button) Use the number keys to input phone numbers for dialling and saving. Also use them as letters for sending messages and adding names to phone numbers. Number keys 1-9 including the * (star) and # (hash) buttons as speed dial number. These will need to be programmed. LEFT SIDE OF PHONE Rocker switch– volume up/down Slider switch– torch on/off (up on-down off) RIGHT SIDE OF PHONE Slider switch-up to lock down to unlock. MENU FUNCTIONS: In standby mode press the left key to enter the main menu. Once in the main menu use the following buttons to navigate around the menu; * Left button to enter a sub menu. * Right button to go back one step - each press will take you one step backwards. UP / DOWN buttons to scroll through the menu you are currently in. At the home screen you can you the up arrow to enter text messages and the down arrow to shortcuts. Structure of the menus: (scrolling down in each menu feature) To access a menu press the OK/left key button. 1. Contacts A. Add new contact: add new name and number. Use the left key to enter options. select– start adding a new contact Phonebook settings– change phonebook settings 2. MESSAGES A Write message: Use the keypad to type a text message. Multiple presses of a button will access the various letters, i.e. Number 2 button is for A, B and C. Use # key for changing the style of writing (capitals, lower casing, numbers) and language. Use the * key to access symbols such as !, @ Use the OK button to send the message and select the recipient. B Inbox: Contains all received text messages. C Drafts unsent saved messages D. Outbox: Contains messages sent but waiting for signal before completing. E Sent Messages contains all sent messages F Broadcast messages send text to multiple contacts. Please note you will need the input a password for this function. Please note: a memory card will be required. MAKING / ANSWERING A CALL & DISCONNECTING A CALL: Making a call - To make a call you can either use the number keypad to dial the required number including the area code or use your contact list. Once your speed dial numbers are setup these can also be used to make a call. -Input the number using the keypad and press the CALL/OK button twice to dial the number. -To access your contact list press the Right Button Use the UP and DOWN buttons to scroll through your contacts. Once you have located your required contact name, press the OK button, to access a sub menu (see below). To call the contact press the OK button again. Loudspeaker When in a call press top left button, scroll to H-Free and press green button. Answering a call - When a call is received and the contact is stored in the phone memory the name of the contact will be displayed. If they are not a stored contact the number they are calling from will be displayed, unless it is withheld or not available. To answer an incoming call press the CALL button. This function can be completed with the key lock turned on. To disconnect a call - Once you have finished your call press the CANCEL/ON/OFF button to disconnect the call. If you wish to stop a call at any time press the CANCEL/ON/OFF button. ADDING A NAME AND NUMBER TO YOUR PHONEBOOK 1. Go into the menu, locate and select “contacts” 2. Use the DOWN button and locate 'ADD NEW CONTACT', press the OPTIONS button then choose select 3. Select to add your contact to either the SIM or Phone memory, using the up/down arrows. Press OK/ button to select. 4. NAME will be displayed. Scroll down so NUMBER is displayed. 5. Use the keypad to enter the contacts phone number. 6. Once the number is entered use the DOWN button to go back to NAME. Press the OK button. 7. Use the keypad to enter the name of the contact. Press the OK button three times to enter, confirm and save the new contacts information. To edit a contacts name and number go into the Contacts list select the required Contact, scroll through the menu, at this point you can either choose to edit, delete or call the contact. Use the OK button to select the action you wish to complete. QUICK SETUP OF THE SPEED DIAL NUMBERS Go to settings then phone settings and select option 2 speed dial. select option 1 status and turn on speed dialling, then use option 2 to add contacts 1-9. option 1 will add speed dial to * and # Once added hold the corresponding number to speed dial selected contact. SOS FUNCTION: You can store up to 5 different phone numbers for the SOS function. These can be different to your speed dial numbers if required. When the SOS button is activated the 5 numbers are called consecutively until one of the recipients answers the call. To store your SOS phone numbers: 1 Access the menu, locate SOS Settings and press the OK button to select. use option 1 Status and turn on. With ok button 2 Use the arrows and move to SOS number and press ok. 3 You will see 1 . 4 Press the select button and enter the required SOS number. 5 Press the OK to save your number. The screen will now display 1 followed by the number you have added. 6 Use the DOWN button to go to position 2 and repeat action 4 and 5. 7) Repeat to add numbers into positions 3 4.and 5 If you wish to edit, delete any of the stored SOS numbers go into the number as above in points 1 and 2, select the SOS you wish to change and use the options button to remove the current sorted number and then enter the new number, press OK button to save. To activate the SOS function press and hold the button located on the back of the phone towards the top edge. FM RADIO: Please note: you can listen to the radio with or without the earphones. However, It is recommended when searching for stations to plug the earphones into the unit to increase the signal. 1 Go to Multimedia 2 Use the arrows and select FM radio use the left key for options In this list there will be 1 Channel list– view current channel list 2 Manual Input– manually input a channel frequency. 3 Auto Search– allow the radio to program available channels 4 Settings - Adjust Settings 5 Record - Record radio 6 File list - Listen to saved recordings. TORCH: The torch is located on the top edge of the phone. To switch the torch on use slider switch on the left side of the phone and slide it up. KEYLOCK: This feature will lock all the keypad functions, to stop accidental dialling or activation of functions/menus. Use slider switch on the left side of the phone and slide it up. Slide it down to unlock. When the key lock is on, incoming calls can still be answered in the usual way, by pressing the Call button. SETTING THE TIME AND DATE: Set the time: 1. Press the top left button to go into the menu. locate SETTINGS. 3. Press the OK button. 4. Use the UP/Down buttons to scroll through and locate PHONE SETTINGS. 5. Press the OK button. 6. TIME AND DATE should be displayed. 7. Press the OK button. 8 Press the DOWN button, SET TIME/DATE will be displayed. Press the OK button. 9The current time set will be displayed. 10 Use the number keypad to change the time (24 hour format). 11. Press the DOWN button the current date will be displayed. Use the number keypad to change the date (year, month and day). Press the OK button. 12 DONE will be displayed and the unit will return to SET TIME/DATE mode. SETTING AN ALARM: 1. Go into the menu, use the up/down buttons to ORGANIZER. Press the OK button to select. 2. Locate and select ALARM. 3. The display will show 00:00. Press the EDIT button. 4. OFF will be displayed. To turn the alarm on, press SELECT and change to use, ON 5.Scroll down to show 00:00, use the number keypad to enter the alarm time required. 6. Press the OK button to confirm. Please note: The alarm will sound each day at the same time, unless it is turned off. To do this follow the same instructions as setting an alarm, but select OFF at point 4. CHANGING THE RINGTONE: 1. Go into the menu, use the up/down buttons to locate SETTINGS. Press the OK/ button. 2. Locate and select PROFILES. 3. The word GENERAL will be displayed. Press the Ok button. ACTIVATE will be displayed. 4. Scroll down to CUSTOMIZE and press the OK/button. Within the customize menu are the following; Tone settings - allows you to change the tone for Incoming calls - ring tones. Alarm - alarm sound for when alarm is set. Message - for when a text message is received. Volume – Edit the ring tone and key tone settings 1.Alert type – Select the type of call alert; Ring only, Vibrate only, Vibrate and ring, Vibrate then ring 2.Ring type – Select how you wish the ring tone to be played; Repeat, Ascending, Single 2.
