W28 Backlit Radio Controlled Talking Watch Your Radio Controlled Watch, will pick up radio signals from within the UK, USA, Germany and Japan. It will automatically set itself using the chosen signal every morning at 3am. After reception of the signal the watch will display and speak the local time. BUTTON LAYOUT AND FUNCTION: When adjusting the watch it will describe the buttons as 2 o'clock button (top right), 4 o'clock button (bottom right). Below are the relevant numbers, positions and functions. TOP RIGHT BUTTON - 2 o'clock button : One press - Spoken time (Hour and Minute) Two presses - Spoken date (Day, Month, Date and Year) Three presses - Tells you which time you are updated too (UK, USA, Germany or Japan) MIDDLE CROWN BUTTON Pull out this button to manually adjust the hands of the watch. You will need sighted assistance to do this. BOTTOM RIGHT BUTTON - 4 o'clock button: Spoken announcement “Alarm time is 12 o’clock am / pm. Alarm is on / off”. BOTTOM LEFT BUTTON - 8 o’clock button: This button is used to turn on and off the back light at the top of the watch face. If you turn the light on, but do not turn it off, the light goes off automatically after approximately 15 seconds. The best way to receive reception of the radio signal is to place your watch face down, near a window. Before your watch can automatically receive the signal and set itself you need to ensure the watch is set to receive the correct signal for the country you are in. SELECTING YOUR SIGNAL - UK, USA, GERMANY OR JAPAN: Press and hold the BOTTOM RIGHT button for 3 seconds or more while the watch is in real time mode, until you hear the phrase “Set Alarm, Press 2 o'clock button to set”. Press BOTTOM RIGHT button another 3 times, until you hear “Global Signal selection, only when you visit these countries. Press 2 o'clock button to set“. Press TOP RIGHT button. You will hear “Press 2 o'clock button to set, 4 o'clock button to confirm“. Use TOP RIGHT button to select the desired country from the following; Germany, Japan, USA Pacific, USA Mountain, USA Central, USA Eastern and UK, then press the BOTTOM RIGHT button to confirm. After confirmation the watch will announce the local time of the country that you have selected. After the announcement of the time the watch hands will adjust themselves to the current time. Please note that at this stage, the hands will only change by the time difference between the new and previous time zones. This will be adjusted to an exactly accurate time once the watch has been updated by a radio signal. You can now press TOP RIGHT button to hear the time spoken. RECEPTION STATUS CHECK: Push TOP RIGHT button three times, while the watch is in the real time mode. If a radio signal has been successfully received at 3 a.m. the watch will announce the “Country name” followed by “Time Updated“. If the 3 a.m. reception failed, or the watch has been set by manual signal reception as described below, the watch will announce the “Country name” followed by “Time not updated“. SETTING THE DAILY ALARM: While in real time mode press and hold the BOTTOM RIGHT button for more than 3 seconds until you hear “Set Alarm, press 2 o'clock button to set“. Press TOP RIGHT button. You will hear “Press 2 o'clock button to set Hour, 4 o'clock button to confirm“. Press the TOP RIGHT button until you reach the hour you require and then press BOTTOM RIGHT button to confirm. When you press BOTTOM RIGHT button to confirm you will hear “Press 2 o’clock button to set minute, 4 o’clock button to confirm”. Press the TOP RIGHT button until you reach the minute you require and then press BOTTOM RIGHT button to confirm. When you press the BOTTOM RIGHT button to confirm the watch will say “Confirm, alarm is set for ….., Alarm is on / off”. Please note: the alarm is a daily alarm therefore, when you turn the beeping sound off, the alarm will beep again on the next day at the set time, unless the alarm is turned off as below. ALARM ON / OFF: While in real time mode hold BOTTOM RIGHT button for more than 3 seconds until you hear “Set Alarm, Press 2 o'clock button to set”. Push BOTTOM RIGHT button once more. You will hear “Alarm ON/OFF, press 2 o'clock button to set “. Press TOP RIGHT button and you will hear “Press 2 o'clock button to ON / OFF, press 4 o'clock button to confirm“. TO CHECK ALARM STATUS: At any time you can check the status of your daily alarm by pressing BOTTOM RIGHT button when in real time mode. You will hear “Alarm time is ….. Alarm is on / off“. HOURLY REPORT/CHIME ON / OFF: Please note: when the chime is on, the watch will announce the HOUR every Hour. While in real time mode hold BOTTOM RIGHT button for more than 3 seconds until you hear “Set Alarm, Press 2 o'clock button to set”. Push BOTTOM RIGHT button twice more, until you hear “Chime ON / OFF, Press 2 o'clock button to set“. Press TOP RIGHT button. You will hear “Press 2 o'clock button to ON / OFF, 4 o'clock button to confirm“. MANUAL SIGNAL RECEPTION: Normally the watch will look for a radio signal at 3 a.m. local time. You can use the following procedure to make the watch look for a signal at any time. Please note that you may require the help of a sighted person to do this. Use the signal selection section at the beginning of these instructions to select the correct country While the watch is in real time mode:- Hold the TOP RIGHT button until the second hand stops. The watch will then take up to 15 minutes to pick up a radio station. Once reception is found the watch hands will spin until the correct time is reached and normal running will resume. TROUBLESHOOTING: RESETTING THE WATCH HANDS TO MATCH THE INTERNAL RUNNING TIME OF THE WATCH: Please note that you may require the help of a sighted person to do this. Wait until the second hand stops at 12 o’clock and immediately pull out the middle button (the crown) ensuring that the second hand stops at 12 o’clock. Turn the middle button (the crown) to set the Hour and Minute hands to the 12 o’clock position. After all of the hands are at the 12 o’clock position hold the TOP RIGHT button for 5 seconds. Push in the middle button (the crown). The watch hands will spin until they match the internal running time of the watch. RESET THE WATCH INTERNAL TIME AND HANDS: Please note that you may require the help of a sighted person to do this. Wait until the second hand stops at 12 o’clock and immediately pull out the middle button (the crown) ensuring that the second hand stops at 12 o’clock. Turn the middle button (the crown) to set the Hour and Minute hands to the 12 o’clock position. After all the hands are at the 12 o’clock position hold the BOTTOM RIGHT button for 15 seconds. Push in the middle button (the crown). The watch will not run straight away. 6. Place your watch onto a windowsill to pick up the nearest radio signal. Once a valid signal is received, the hands and internal time will adjust accordingly. WATCH NOT RECEIVING TIME SIGNAL: Reasons for not being able to receive the signal include; Being out of the signal area. Being in a built up area. Metal objects blocking the signal. You may have to try different windows in the house to see which is best. BATTERY: Your watch uses a CR2032 battery. You can return the watch to us for a battery replacement. We will replace the battery and reset the watch.
