Cobolt Speechmaster Talking Timer Instructions Your timer has a clip on the back with a stay to enable it to be used as a stand and a magnet to allow the timer to be attached to a metal surface. The front has a rectangular recess for a display, below which are six rectangular buttons arranged in two rows. The top row is used to adjust HOURS, MINUTES and SECONDS. The bottom row selects CLEAR, MEMORY and START/STOP. On the right hand side of the case is a four position slide switch. Top selects COUNT UP then COUNT DOWN, CLOCK and CLOCK SET. On each side of the case, below the level of the slide switch, are roughened surfaces. By holding these the lower section of the case can be pulled downwards to expose a two position slide switch on the left used to select REPEAT - left for YES, right for NO, and two rectangular buttons on the right. The left button selects VOICE ON/OFF (1 beep for off, 2 for on), the right selects SOUND - used to select your preferred alarm sound (4 beeps for sound off). Count Down Timer Select COUNT DOWN on the side switch (2nd position down). Use the HOURS, MINUTES and SECONDS buttons to set the count down time and press the START/STOP button (bottom row, right hand button below the time setting buttons) to start the timer. The time remaining will be spoken as the time remaining followed by "LEFT" as follows:- More than one hour remaining - every hour. Between ten minutes and one hour remaining - every ten minutes. Between one minute and ten minutes remaining - every minute. Between ten seconds and one minute remaining - every ten seconds. Final ten seconds - every second. As it passes through zero the alarm will sound for one minute, after which the time will be reported as "OVER" followed by the time on the same basis as above. To pause the countdown press START/STOP. Press again to resume. To reset the timer to zero first stop it counting by pressing START/STOP then press CLEAR. To reset the count down time after it has finished press CLEAR , You can now set a new count down time. Auto Repeat The timer can be set to repeat automatically when it reaches zero. To use this facility set the timer as above then select the REPEAT switch to YES before starting the timer. The alarm sound at zero will depend on the length of count down time selected. If less than two minutes the selected alarm sounds for one minute. If between ten seconds and two minutes two beeps will sound. If less than ten seconds then one beep will sound if VOICE has been selected OFF or no alarm will sound if VOICE has been selected ON. Memory One count down time can be stored in memory by selecting the required time as above then pressing MEMORY. To use this time in future just press MEMORY followed by START/STOP. To clear the memory first stop the timer if it is counting, press MEMORY then CLEAR. Count Up Timer: Select COUNT UP on the side switch then press START/STOP. At 23:59:59 the timer will start again at zero. There is no voice announcement for the count up timer but this can be simulated by using the count down timer with a start time of one second. The timer will count down through zero then count up and, after the first minute, will state the time as "OVER" followed by the time at the same intervals as when counting down. In order to stop the alarm sounding continuously for the first minute select sound OFF Talking Clock: To set the talking clock select CLOCK SET on the side switch and use the time buttons to set the clock. Once set select CLOCK on the side switch. With the side switch in this position pressing any button other than VOICE ON/OFF will cause the time to be spoken. Batteries: The unit is powered by two L1154 alkaline batteries. The battery compartment is under the clip on the back of the case. It is opened by opening the clip and sliding the cover downwards.
