Cobolt Speechmaster Talking Infrared Ear Thermometer Instructions Thank you for purchasing a Cobolt systems infrared ear thermometer, Please take some time to read through the following instruction for operation and cleaning. Thermometer layout. Place the ear thermometer in the palm of your hand with the coned top pointing towards you. There is an LCD screen on the front of the unit. Under the display screen you can find the on/off power button. Below the power button is the battery cover (this product uses 2x AAA batteries). Turning the unit over the measuring button is on the rear of unit. Device Operation. Remove the hard cover from the ear probe. Press the power button to turn on the unit. All the display icons will briefly appear on the screen. The last known temperature measurement taken will be displayed (if any). Insert the IR thermometer into the ear canal, ( make sure not to push the device to far into the ear canal as this could cause damage to your ear.) Pull the ear lobe down slightly to straighten the ear canal. Hold the position and press the measuring button 1 second and wait for the beep. This indicates that the measurement has finished. Remove the device from the ear canal. The reading will be spoken and also displayed on the LCD screen. Note that the device will power off after 30 seconds if it is not used. Changing the batteries. Using your thumb locate the ridged area of the battery cover that is under the on/off button. Apply a small amount of pressure and pull the cover towards the bottom of the thermometer. Place the battery cover to one side. Turn the thermometer over and tap the back to dislodge the batteries from the case. Insert new batteries making sure that the flat end of the batteries are against the spring contacts. Place the cover back onto the thermometer and push it upwards to the top. The cover will click into position. Memory Recall There are a total of 12 memory functions that are automatically stored in the thermometer. With the unit turned off, press the measuring button once. Three dashes and an M (- - - M) will be displayed. Continue to press the measuring button once and the unit will flash the number one and an M (1 M) this is indicating memory 1, then the thermometer will display the saved temperature. Continue to press the measuring button and this will cycle through all twelve stored measurements. Press the power button to exit the memory mode. Please note Memory recall tempratures are not spoken. Changing between C° and F° With the probe turned off, press and hold the measuring button for 14 seconds. The thermometer will display either C° or F°. A single press of the measuring button will change this from C° or F° depending on which is already selected. Once you have selected the correct measurement press the power button WITHIN 2 SECONDS to confirm. Switching between Voice on/off To activate or deactivate the voice press and hold the scan button while the device is off for 6 seconds. The screen will show its current setting. To change remove your finger from the scan button and press the scan button again, once amended press the power button to save. Cleaning Wipe clean the probe after each use and replace the cap, allow for the probe to completely dry before inserting to the ear canal.
