There is a Hi/Lo volume switch on the back of the case and a toggle switch for turning the speech off. This also disables alarms. The clock is powered by 2 x AAA Alkaline batteries in the compartment on the back. This can be removed by pressing your thumb on the back and sliding down. We strongly recommend the use of alkaline batteries for maximum life. Modified 18/03/2020
