Retro Radio Controlled Talking Calendar Clock with In/Out Temperature The radio controlled clock works by receiving the time signals from the MSF time signal broadcasting station. When the time signal is received, the clock will synchronize to the correct time and automatically change between summer time and winter time. For best reception, avoid placing the unit near television sets, metal surfaces, computers or electric devices as these may interfere with the reception of radio signals. Modified 18/03/2020 Button Layout: Along the top of the unit you will feel a long raised section. This is the VOICE/LIGHT button. When this button is pressed, you will be told the relevant information for the mode you are in, i.e. if you are in 'Time' mode it will announce the time. When an announcement is in progress the display will be back lit. On the front of the unit you will feel a large display, on the back you will feel buttons and switches. Below the display you will feel a slightly raised long MODE button. Use this to switch between the following displays and announcements; time, date, room temperature and outside temperature. On the back of the unit from left to right you will feel the following controls: A small round button which is the SET button. A slide switch which is the ALARM ON/OFF button. Slide the switch upwards to turn the alarm on and slide downwards to turn off. The next two buttons are arrow shaped and located above each other. The top button is PLUS and the bottom button is MINUS. These are used when setting the alarm time, or manually setting the time and date. The last switch is the HOURLY REPORT ON/OFF switch. Slide the switch to the left position to turn on and to the right position to turn off. Setting the alarm time: To set the alarm time, press the PLUS / MINUS arrow buttons on the back of the unit. The display will flash, press the PLUS/MINUS button again and you will hear 'Alarm set' followed by the current set alarm time. Use the PLUS/MINUS buttons to change the minutes. The hours will change as the minutes reach the "00" of each hour. If you press and hold the button the minutes will advance faster. Once the correct alarm time is set and no buttons are pressed the unit will return to displaying the information prior to setting the alarm time. Turning the alarm on/off: To turn the alarm on, slide the ALARM switch on the back of the unit upwards. You will hear 'the alarm time is set to...' followed by the set time. A symbol and the word 'On' will also be displayed. When the alarm sounds the clock will make a beep noise followed by an announcement of the current time continuously for 2 minutes. Press the VOICE/LIGHT button to activate the snooze function which will resume the alarm after 5 mins. Slide the alarm switch downwards, to the off position to turn the alarm off.. Hourly report function: When the hourly report function is turned on, the clock will automatically announce the time on the hour followed by 4 beeps, the indoor temperature and the outdoor temperature. For example, you will hear; "The time is 8am, beep beep, beep, beep and the temperature will be announced. The hourly report only operates between 8am and 10pm. Slide the ANNOUNCEMENT switch on the back of the unit to the left position. You will hear "announcement on". To disable the hourly report, move the switch to the right. You will hear "announcement off". Changing to summer time / winter time: When the clocks go backwards or forwards one hour the unit will automatically search for the radio signal. Once it is received, the unit will adjust automatically. To manually set the time and calendar: Although the unit works by receiving the radio signal, there may be locations where the signal is weak and you may need to set the time and date manually. If this occurs there will be no radio symbol on the display. Try placing the unit in an alternative location and re-start the 'receive signal reception' by quick pressing the Set button on the back of unit once. To set the time: Ensure the display/announcement are in time mode. Press and hold the SET button, until the display is flashing and you hear two beeps, release the button, you will hear the current time announced. Use the PLUS/MINUS buttons to change the time. The minutes will change on each press of the button and the hour will change on the 00 minutes. If you press and hold the minutes will advance faster. Once the time has been set, press the set button again, you will hear 'setting complete'. To set the date: Change the mode to the calendar display and announcements. Press and hold the SET button, until the display is flashing and you hear two beeps, release the button, you will hear 'setting year' followed by the current year. Use the PLUS/MINUS buttons to change the year. Then quick press the SET button. You will hear 'setting date' followed by the day and date. Use the PLUS/MINUS buttons to change the date. As the date changes the week day will change automatically in accordance with the date, month and year. Then quick press the SET button. You will hear 'Setting complete' and the unit will return to the normal date mode. Note: when in any setting mode if no buttons are pressed for 30 seconds it will return to normal display mode. Changing the batteries and synchronizing the two units: When you need to change the batteries in either unit you will need to re-synchronize the units to each other. Please follow the instructions below: 1) Installing/replacing batteries in the remote sensor: The battery compartment in the remote sensor is held in place by four small screws. The unit requires 2 x AAA Alkaline batteries. Press the RESET button once to initiate the unit, this is located towards the top edge above a slide switch. Do not close the battery compartment until the synchronization process is complete. Always ensure that the slide switch is in position 1 to the far left. 2) Installing/replacing batteries in the main unit: The battery compartment in the clock is on the back under the set button. It requires 2 x AA Alkaline batteries. Also located in the battery compartment above the left battery is the RESET button. This is used in the synchronization process. Turning off the Radio signal: Inside the battery compartment above the right battery there is a slide switch to turn the receiver for the radio signal on/off. When you receive the clock the switch will be in the on position. Ensure the switch remains in the On position before replacing the batteries. 3) Synchronizing the two units: Once you have replaced the batteries and followed the above instructions, follow these steps to link the clock to the remote sensor; 1) Press the RESET button on the clock to reset it. 2) Press the RESET button on the remote sensor. 3) When the small LED light on the remote sensor flashes, it will communicate with the clock. 4) Press the MODE button on the clock three times, to change to the Outdoor Temperature display and announcement. 5) If the main unit shows and announces an 'outside temperature' it means the link between the clock and remote sensor is established. After the link is successfully established, close both battery compartments, ensuring the waterproof rubber ring on the remote sensor is around the outside edge of the base and sandwiched between the top and bottom cases.
