Banknote Instructions - Euro Model There is a single operating button which can be felt about one third of the way along the top face. You will also be able to feel that one of the shorter edges has a slot. To operate the device hold it with your thumb on the button; do not press the button at this stage. Insert one of the longer sides of the note to be tested into the slot and slide it all the way in until it rests against the inner end of the slot. Ensure that the note is squarely against the back edge of the slot, not at an angle, then press and hold the button. You will feel the device vibrate several times to indicate the value of the note:- no vibrations = flat battery 1 vibration = €5 2 vibrations = €10 3 vibrations = €20 4 vibrations = €50 5 vibrations = €100 or higher value The unit can be held at any angle and in whatever way feels most comfortable. The device uses 1 x CR-2032 battery. To replace it lay the unit with the button face down on a flat surface. i.e. bottom face up. Remove the two screws on the bottom face and lift the bottom half of the case off. The battery can now be removed from its exposed recess inside the top half of the case. The replacement should be fitted with its flat, positive, side upwards. Take care to align the case halves and not to over tighten the screws on re-assembly. Precautionary Notes:- Try to align the note squarely with the back edge of the slot. If it is held at a significant angle it may indicate a higher than true value. Keep the button pressed for long enough for all the vibrations to occur - if you release it too quickly it may not have time to complete the reading. Three seconds is sufficient. The unit is not a counterfeit currency detector and can not indicate whether a note is genuine.
