TALKING SMOKE AND CARBON MONOXIDE DETECTOR INSTRUCTIONS Please not that this is just a quick reference sheet and the enclosed user guide should be used for the full instructions and information on this product. Features. Permanent independent smoke and carbon monoxide sensors. Alarm/Voice message warning system that alerts you of smoke, carbon monoxide and low battery conditions. Loud 85 decibel alarm. Battery lockout system that prohibits installation without installing all three batteries. Oversized test button for easy activation. Mounting bracket designed for easy orientation. Smoke Alarm. The smoke alarm monitors the air products of combustion that are produced when something is burning or smouldering. When smoke particles in the smoke senor reach a specified concentration, the alarm/voice message warning system will sound and be accompanied by the RED flashing LED light. Note. The smoke alarm takes precedence when both smoke and carbon monoxide are present. Carbon monoxide (CO) alarm The carbon monoxide (CO) alarm monitors the air for the presence of CO. It will alarm when there are high levels of CO present, and when there are low levels of CO present over longer periods of time. When a CO condition matches either of these conditions, the alarm/voice message warning system will sound, and be accompanied by the RED flashing LED light. This carbon monoxide sensor uses an electrochemical technology. Installing the batteries: 1) The detector mounting plate must be removed before the batteries can be installed. 2) Install 3 x AA alkaline batteries into the open battery compartment making sure they are inserted in the correct way. 3) Once you have inserted all three batteries correctly the unit will bleep once and the RED LED light will flash. After 20-30 seconds the GREEN LED light will flash indicating the unit is now operational. Alarm/voice message warning system. This smoke and carbon monoxide detector has a unique alarm/voice message warning system and will alert you of the following conditions in the manner described below. FIRE : The alarm/voice pattern is three long alarm beeps followed by the verbal warning message “ FIRE! FIRE!”. This pattern is repeated until the smoke is eliminated. The RED LED light will flash while in alarm/voice mode. CARBON MONOXIDE : The alarm/voice pattern is four short alarm beeps followed by the verbal warning message “WARNING! CARBON MONOXIDE!”. After four minutes the alarm/voice pattern will sound once every minute until the unit is reset, or the CO eliminated. The RED LED light will flash whilst in alarm/voice mode. LOW BATTERY : When the batteries are low and need replacing the RED LED light will flash and the unit will “CHIRP” one time, followed by the warning “LOW BATTERY”. This cycle will occur once every minute for the first hour. After the first hour the RED LED light will continue to flash every minute accompanied by the “CHIRP” only sound. The voice message “LOW BATTERY” will sound once every fifteen minutes during the “CHIRP” only cycle. This will continue for at least seven days.
