Cobolt Speechmaster "ATOMIC" Talking Radio Controlled Alarm Clock Instructions. Your clock works by receiving the MSF time signals transmitted from Rugby which are controlled by an atomic clock. This means that you should never need to set it or adjust it for summer or winter time and it will maintain continuous accuracy to within a fraction of a second. The case has a single “SPEECH” bar along the top edge and a smooth circular plastic face on the front which houses the large LCD display. Below the display are two “SET” buttons, the left to decrease the time and the right to increase it. On the right side of the case is a three position switch. Up selects the alarm on, centre selects it off and fully down selects the hourly report to sound between 8 am and 10 pm. If you turn the case so the back is facing you then two buttons can be felt on the rear face. The right one adjusts the volume - down for low and up for high. The left button is the “TEST/TIME” button which will be explained later. Your clock requires two AA size alkaline batteries. The battery compartment is on the base of the unit and can be opened by pressing the spring loaded clip towards the front of the clock. Insert the batteries with their negative, flat, ends against the spring contacts. As soon as the batteries have been fitted the device will begin searching for the time signal. An aerial symbol at the lower right corner of the display will flash to confirm this. Provided the signal is received the clock will synchronise itself within three to fifteen minutes and display the correct time and date. The aerial symbol will stop flashing and, during summer or daylight saving time, D.S.T. will be displayed to the right of the time. If the time signal cannot be received then the aerial display will disappear. If this happens or the clock will not synchronise then press the “TEST/TIME” button once to manually re-start the reception process. If this does not work then try turning it or moving it to a better reception area. Try to avoid placing it near T.V. sets, metal surfaces, computers or electrical devices if possible. If a radio signal cannot be received then the time and calendar can be set manually as follows but their accuracy will not be as great. To manually set the time press and hold the “TEST/TIME” button for about 2 seconds to enter setting mode. The clock will announce “Setting Year”. Use the “SET” buttons to adjust the year - it will be spoken only when the button is released. Press the “TEST/TIME” button once and “Setting Date” will be spoken. Use the “SET” buttons to adjust this - again release the button to hear the date. Press “TEST/TIME” again to hear “Setting Time” and again use the “SET” buttons as before. If you hold either button down the time will cycle quickly and speak when you release it. Press “TEST/TIME” one more time to hear “Setting Complete” and the clock will leave setting mode. Once the clock has been set manually it will stop searching for a time signal. If you want it to search for the signal again press the “TEST/TIME” button once. To set the alarm time press the “SET” buttons. Holding either of these down will again cause the alarm time to cycle quickly and releasing it will cause the alarm time to be spoken. Once correct just stop pressing the buttons. If the alarm is turned on with the switch on the side of the case then it will sound for five minutes at the appropriate time. Pressing the “SPEECH” bar will activate the snooze function - the alarm will stop for five minutes then sound again. To silence it completely use the switch on the side of the case to select it off. To hear the time normally just press the “SPEECH” bar. To hear the date press the bar twice quickly. Cobolt Speechmaster "ATOMIC" Talking Radio Controlled Alarm Clock Instructions.
